A Time For New Beginnings

On the 26th August, we said farewell to Audrey, Matron at our Galgate home whom after 15 years of working with us at Hillcroft has reached a very well-deserved retirement!

Audrey commenced her nurse training as a Pupil Nurse in 1974, and later qualified in 1976.

From then, Audrey went to work in a number of settings from hospitals, to being an Occupational Health Night Sister at Vickers Shipbuilding. In 1994 Audrey went to work for the Risedale Group in Barrow where she met and worked with Tracey, who is now Matron at our Carnforth home, before moving to Lancaster in 1997.

For a short time, Audrey worked nights at our Carnforth home but later left there to take on a new role at Fairfield Hall Nursing Home in Lancaster. In a twist of fate, in 2006, Fairfield was taken over by the Hillcroft group where Audrey remained as a nurse and was appointed as Deputy Matron.

When our Galgate home opened in 2012, Audrey took the post as Matron and has done an exceptional job since and will be be dearly missed by all!

As we say goodbye to Audrey, we would like to give the new Matron, Carlota a big, warm welcome as she embarks on a new chapter of her Hillcroft journey. Carlota was previously the Deputy Matron at Carnforth before applying to take on the new challenge.

From all of us here at Hillcroft, we wish them both the very best of luck on their new paths in life.
